If you're struggling with dental anxiety, the first appointment is usually kind of the easiest one, so we'll get you in as a new patient or even as like a limited exam where we're going to take a look at one tooth to get you out of pain. If that first visit is something that you're really, really concerned about, just come in for a consult, see how you like the place. If you're comfortable here, we want you to be comfortable. As for other dental anxiety, we have some things that we can do, we have (inaudible) in the office which is kind of like the laughing gas that you can use, so that tends to calm patients down as well. If they're really, really super anxious, we can do some conscious sedation things where they get some maybe Valium or a couple of pills the night before and then a little bit before they come into the appointment. But you would need a driver to bring you because we don't want you driving on that medication. That's something else that we could do and we'll probably give you the (inaudible) as well so it's kind of like a two-fold step that we can do to make you really, really comfortable here.

Dental Sedation Options
To help calm your nerves, we offer two different levels of dental sedation: inhaled sedation and oral conscious dental sedation. In a private consultation, we can help you choose which option is best for you. Sometimes we combine both options to ensure you’re completely relaxed.
We offer a gas that, when inhaled through a small mask, creates a sense of mild euphoria. This inhaled sedation works quickly, wears off easily, and can be administered to children and adults. You will have no problem driving to and from the South Bend, IN dental office if this form of sedation is used.
Oral conscious sedation is ingested in pill form and creates a deep sense of relaxation. We recommend this level of sedation for patients who are quite anxious or even fearful of the procedure. You will need a trusted friend or family member to drive you to and from your visit.
Both of our dental sedation options are safe to use under the supervision of our highly trained team. We will ensure you are safe and comfortable throughout your treatment.
